disable a Dell "track stick"

I have a Dell Latitude D630 and for the most part I love it. It is a great machine for what I need. However I am most annoyed with the "track stick", that little blue button that sits in between the G, H, and B keys on the keyboard. I am not a great typist and still often need to look at my fingers. Sometimes when I am not looking at the screen I then look up to discover that I had without knowing hit that track stick my mistake and I type several words or lines up in the middle of the previous paragraph.

Does anyone know how to disable the track stick?

I have a quick question before we do anything, is this a new laptop?

Well I bought it new/still in the box on eBay last December. I believe the latitude d630 has been oput for a couple or a few years.

And this is a recent problem?

Also, just to make sure, the issue you are having is that when you are typing, the pointer sometimes points somewhere else and what you are typing types somewhere else?

The options will be in Control Panel - Mouse.
If not you may need to install the driers for the device from the Dell website - clicky.

I didn't think you can click with that track ball thingy on the key board....or is it just my old laptop that can't click?

Although my laptop does not have a stick (Fujitsu S-2110), I can't recall that any of the laptops I've worked on that had sticks have had clicky sticks.  This may not be and easy fix.  Your thumbs may be getting into the mix, tapping the touchpad and playing tricks.  Have you watched yourself typing?  Post some pics!
