    Problems reinstalling AVG
    « on: January 17, 2009, 06:24:12 PM »
I need to reinstall AVG.  I have uninstalled the old program but Window Security Center still reports that AVG is turned off.  So there is some registry value that is still there.  I have searched the registry and deleted all references to AVG BUT there are 4 folders that are related to AVG that will not deleter.  They are LEGACY_AVGLDX86  LEGACY_AVGRKX86  LECAY_AVGMFX86 and LEGACY_AVG8WD.  Any suggestions? TIA for any help

    Better choice:

    - Avast! free antivirus: http://filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/
    - Avira free antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/en/download/index.html

    - free PC Tools Firewall Plus: http://www.pctools.com/firewall/

    - free Comodo Internet Security (firewall + AV): http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

If you decide to install Avast, or Avira, make sure, Windows firewall is turned on, or use PC Tools Firewall Plus.
If you decide to install Comodo, make sure, Windows firewall is turned off.

IMPORTANT! Make sure, you use only ONE antivirus, and ONE firewall.
