    clean a second HDD
    « on: September 06, 2009, 01:11:04 PM »
I recently added a second HDD to my daughters desktop.  It came out of another desktop that died.  It works fine, but instead of having a 40GB, it has about 10GB because of all the crap on it from the other desktop.

Here's my question:  If I reformat the HDD to clean off the old files and OS, will it still work?  Everything on it has already been saved elsewhere, so I don't need any of it.  If it will work to take it back to it's original state from the manufacturer, what else needs to be done to use it for storage and backup only?

    Thanks for the help.

Yes, of course. Just format it.

    Yes.
When you format it will show up as an empty HDD...
Decide on a directory structure for it and folders and sub-folders can be added in Windows Explorer...
