    Malware Causes System Restore
    « on: August 30, 2009, 12:55:05 PM »
I had a really bad Malware hit which kept crashing me computer so I had to do a restore. I backed up all of files and driversto a back up file. Now I have scanned the file and removed all of the trojans but now I am locked of of the folder to retrieve important documents. I am running XP and it is saying I dont have the privlages to access or delete file.

    Any suggestions?

You need to take ownership of the folder (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421)

Thanks ADG. I took ownership of the folder and was able to recover all my important files and delete the rest. Though when when I did take ownership some of the sub folders didnt change. Is there a reason why some changed and some didnt?

No idea, but you can take ownership of the subfolders individually.
