Problems starting my Dell laptop with Windows Xp
    « on: May 26, 2009, 01:23:43 PM »
Whenever i try to start my computer i get to the user accounts screen but when I try to log on to my account, my computer immediatly logs out and im back at the user account screen. This problem started right after i had completed an antispyware scan because i had to restart my computer after the scan. When I try to log in i see a few seconds of my backround picture but no icons or task bar and then it logs out. Please help

        1. If you have Windows CD, follow the steps from here: http://icrontic.com/articles/repair_windows_xp

        2. If you don't have Windows CD...
        Download Windows Recovery Console: http://www.thecomputerparamedic.com/files/rc.iso
Download, and install free Imgburn: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
Using Imgburn, burn rc.iso to a CD.
Boot to the CD...let it finish loading.
When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
Then, follow the steps from here: http://icrontic.com/articles/repair_windows_xp, starting below this picture on page 1:

You have to use burning program, which will make CD bootable. ImgBurn is very simple program, and it does just that.

Infection is always possible, but even if it's the case, you need to get to Windows one way, or another, if malware cleaning is necessary.
