    start up problem
    « on: June 12, 2009, 11:12:43 AM »
I have a second PC (Dell) which I use occasionally. I use MS XP op system.
I have it pluged into a power strip which, after shut down, I turn off.
I have a cable modem. After a recent shut down, turn off, I can not get a startup. When I push the start button, the lights on tower front and for my CD burner blink and the main power light comes on, for a second, and then goes off. The lights on the modem are all on. I get a "no signal" message
on the monitor, which also turns on.

What proceedure should I use to check everything out.
    My experience is limited.

    Thanks

Did you make sure that the powere cord is firmly plugged into the power strip and tower?

Have you tried it without the power strip.......is switch on back of power supply turned on?

it looks the same as happened to me , borrow a power lead from the plug to your tower and try it , if thats

no good , it could be the connection in the tower that the lead goe's into is burnt out , it cost me £12 to get

fixed and took an hour , harry
