Can't read CD-Rs
« on: May 29, 2005, 12:29:05 PM »
I can't get an older Goldstar CD-ROM drive (probably from around 1996) to read CD-Rs. Is there a firmware update that will fix this?

John K. Perkins Jr....... "Yes, it will read regular CDs." ....I'm a bit confused ....LOL ....Please define a regular cd ?

Do you have the latest drivers installed for the cd drive ......
What operating system are you using.

      Contact Goldstar technical support.

      ...Isn't Goldstar an apple brand?

Goldstar is not an Apple brand. The CD-ROM drive came in a Packard Bell. I'm just using the basic CD-ROM drivers that come with Windows. The OS is Windows 95. By regular CDs I meant the CDs that new software comes on. The kind you can't write to.

Older CD-ROM's often can not seem to read either CD-R's and CD-RW's. Or both.

Here seems to be a list with a variety of drivers. Perhaps it is of use to you.
