    Help!!
    « on: August 07, 2009, 04:36:16 PM »
Just got new computer and was going through the setup screen when I got to please back up your files to a flash drive or hard drive.  Have my new computer plugged into a battery pack and went to plug in the hard drive to it and computer went dead and couldn't get Windows Vista back.

So when I turn it back put in Windows disc and hit enter where it said hit any key to boot from cd.  Went through the installation part again.

Am I doing this right?  I hope so.

Hubby is furious with me, but he's the one that said plug things into the battery pack!

Slow down a minute or two, let's take this one step at a time.
Are you referring to a computer plugged into a UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) or a laptop with a built in battery?

It's a desktop plugged into a big batter pack. The first one you mentioned I think.

Desktop is plugged into the Uninterruptible Power Supply.

After it installs will I have to install the drivers all over again?

Have you already installed all of the OS and drivers?

If you have it may just be a case of removing the OS disk from the optical drive.  If it's always trying to boot first from the optical drive then it will always try to reinstall the OS.  This can also be changed from inside the BIOS.

Seems like everything is working fine.  Installed windows vista from disk and everything is working.  I think, so far, so good.

It sounds like you still have it set to boot from the optical drive in the BIOS.  If you've taken out the disk and all seems okay then it probably is.

          Keep us posted though.

Yes I took out the disk and everything is still working so I guess it is fine.

Thank you so much, hopefully nothing else will happen.
