    Uninstalled drivers
    « on: August 11, 2009, 11:50:26 AM »
I uninstalled a few programs accidentally and I couldn't play audio on computer. iTunes would load but no song would play. Video files would play without audio...nut .mod files would not start.

On startup the desktop would show

    C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\1.bin\M3PLUGIN.DLL

    Specific module not found

I started the comp with safe mode but now it has problems loading.

This comp was built for me and I don't have any discs with drivers. Any help is appreciated.

Well, it sounds like you uninstalled some drivers. A reinstall would be a definate last resort.

        Go to start-all programs-accessories-system tools-system information
        System info will come up.
Click the + sign next to Components and click Sound device.
Highlight the info it gives you on the right and hit edit-copy. Paste  the info in a response here.

OK, thanks for the info. Go to start and right click my computer and click properties. Then click the hardware tab, and select device manager. Hit the + sign next to sound video and game controllers, find the sigmatel c-major audio, right click, hit properties and select uninstall. Hit OK. Then download the drivers Here:

There are bigger problems now...computer won't boot...not safe mode or any other...I'm pretty sure I need to reinstall OS...

It won't go to desktop...it starts to boot...goes a bit and again starts to boot...I did something because it won't start...if I take it to a guy...they are gonna charge so much money...

            Thanks for your help...

Hopefully you can get your data off the hard drive and then reinstall. I wish you best of luck

I somehow got it working without an OS reinstall...after I downloaded and ran SigmaTel like you suggested...this message came...

String SIGMATEL_ERROR_UpdateDriverForPNPDevice s was not found in string table...

              What does this mean...

Probably means the driver file is corrupt...DLoad it again and try...
