Computer running slow

My computer is running very slow.  On Face book and AOL, when I type, it takes a few seconds for it to appear.  On other sites, it takes more than a few seconds to connect.  I’ve run all of my programs below, as computer geeks have programmed for me and shown me.  I’ve defragged.  I’ve rebooted, and dis-connected and re-connected my wireless a few times.  This issue started a few days ago.
Please some suggestions on what to do?

Thats a question I'm not sure how to answer.  When i'm in AOL opening email, or deleting emails, when I try to open, it takes a few seconds.  When I check a box to delete the email, the check doesnt appear for a few seconds.  Anything else you can think of?

Open programs that have nothing to do with the interenet (word processor for example) and let us know if that opens / works normally or slowly.

Well, if you're sure you are malware free you might want to contact your ISP and see what they have to say. You can also try a clean boot (don't load any startup programs) and see if the problem still exists.

Do you think the programs I have are going to catch anything that I come upon?
