    Video card and win 7
    « on: October 24, 2009, 08:29:08 AM »
Out of curiosity I downloaded the windows 7 upgrade advisor to test whether my system met the requirements. It passed all but one requirement which was the windows aero stuff, it said my graphics adaptor could not support it.

My graphics card is a nvidia geforce 8400 gs and I went on to the nvidia site and found my graphics card, I checked whether it had new drivers and I saw that it had drivers for win vista and win 7, so if I did in the future upgrade to win 7 is it simply a case of just updating the drivers to the win 7 ones? I am currently running win xp.

    Thanks for any replies.

Yep - that should do it. But you can install the driver now and rerun the compatibility check if you like.

The driver is not going to get your performance rating to change...
Why would you want to install a Win7 driver on XP ? ?
      Nothing's gonna change things...

I suggested he updates to the latest driver and then run the compatibility test.
