1. When you boot the machine, do you see anything on the screen as the boot process progresses? The post diagnostic screen, a vendor logo, Windows logo as operating system loads with progress bar underneath?
If you do, then you may have set the screen resolution (and/or attributes) beyond the capabilities of the LCD monitor.
Use the Windows Advanced Options Menu to either boot into "Safe Mode" or "Enable VGA Mode". I'm hoping this will permit you to boot into Windows with screen at VGA resolution.
If you have a readable screen, use Display Properties to reset the screen attributes to something that LCD monitor will safely support. If it has a "native" mode, use that.
Reboot the computer back into normal mode and see if you're good to go.
2. Windows Advanced Options Menu. Use the F8 function key during system startup to access the Windows Advanced Options menu. Tap the F8 key once or twice per second as you startup the computer (or immediately after POST completes and screen flashes black prior to displaying Windows XP logo with its processing bar display).
