LapTop, The Commissioned Sales Person, Part 1

How to deal with Sales People when buying a LapTop!

-Do you have a LapTop Bag? (this answer is up to you.  although you can use almost any bag for LapTop's, not garbage or plastic bags)

Do you have Mice? No I prefer Cats.  (this answer is up to you, if you need a mouse go for it)

Do you have AntiVirus? Sure Do
Shhh, don't tell em' you have these: Avast or AntiVir or MalwareBytes and Adaware, Super AntiSpyware and Spybot

Do you need Microsoft Office?  No Thanks, I'm use to OpenOffice

Would you like to have a Service Plan?  If I want coverage, I'll use a blanket.  (I've been scammed by these before)

After you buy the *Windows* LapTop you might need this: PcDecrapifier.com

LapTop, Thieves Hands Off, Part 2

So you saved up for that pretty Laptop, but keep saving, cause you may need some accessories to deter thieves:

-Keep your LapTop's Serial Number and Model Number and any other details on Paper or on a File, away from the LapTop.

-Keep receipts that were given upon purchase of the LapTop and stuff that came with it.

-Use a LapTop Lock, they go from cheap to not so cheap.

-If you own the LapTop try engraving or stickering your name and contact info on it
-Also Use a sticker that either says, Linux Rocks! and/or Advanced AntiTheft Guard

      -Create a Bios Password
-Also some Window OS's have Admin in SafeMode so, make sure a Password is set there too.

-Have files that are very very important?
      truecrypt.org

-Save your Files frequently on a Storage Device and/or Secure Online Storage that is seprate from your LapTop Such As:
      External HardDrive
      Usb Jump Drive
      CD/DVD Blank
      mozy.com
      idrive.com

-Use Software and/or Services To Deter and Track Theft:
      absolute.com
      safeware.com
      softexinc.com
      ztrace.com
      thelaptoplock.com
      adeona.cs.washington.edu
      laptopsentry.com
      lalarm.com
      syfer.nl
      maxmind.com
      wigle.net
      dyndns.com
      opendns.com
      no-ip.com

Does your MacBook or LapTop have a Built-In Cam?

      Mac USER:
      foozoodesign.com
      gawker.sourceforge.net
      slappingturtle.com
      panic.com

      Pc USER:

      Most important:
-Keep your eyes on that LapTop and/or keep it beside you.
