cant play VLC media file

I have downloaded a movie from torrentz. unfortunately, none of the players I have, can play this file.

when I take the mouse over it,  it's been described as

vlc media file (.avi)

If it is an avi format file then it must be played by VLC player. but Its something different.

I have tried with
VLC media player, Windows media player, Real player

is there any other player I can try?

Downloading copyright movies and other material is not only illegal, it also exposes you to malware of all kinds. Frequently, owners of copyright material will deliberately share fake files in order to waste downloaders time.

Why don't you try KMPlayer or GOM player, I’ve always using both of them to play movie and those two are working well with avi format

The fact that it's described as a vlc file simply means that vlc media player is your default player for that type of file (.avi in this case). But it should play with any media player capable of playing .avi files.
