    CAM software
    « on: January 26, 2010, 01:12:38 AM »
I'm not too sure how many people on these forums are in a profession that doesn't revolve around computer's, but I need some help finding a CAM software. It can either be a 30 Day Trial, or a free generic one that isn't even worth buying if it were for sale. I need it to be capable of doing 4 things...

    1. The ability to create a 2D or 3D part
    2. Create the toolpaths
    3. Backplot the Toolpaths
    4. Post the Backplot into G/M Code (CNC Programming)

Now those 4 things basically describe a fully funcional CAM software that you would have to buy. But there has to be a 30 Day Trial somewhere that gives you all those functions. All of the trials that I have downloaded have crippled the ability to post the program. And the generic versions that i've tried are a joke compared to the 30 day trial versions. They don't have the capabilities to do all 4 functions.

Thanks a bunch if you can help find what i'm looking for.

Thanks for the suggestion. I never thought about looking abroad for the software. The programs look great, but when I download them, they require me to have the license dongle or media.

Do you plan on buying or just using it long enough to get a free program for you machine.

I don't own a machine. I wish I did. If I could afford a CNC machine I wouldn't be asking for a free program. I've got an interview on Monday with a very well established company in a city nearby, and they are wanting me for my experience with CNC Mills especially. I haven't been in the business of mills for about a year now, and a program such as the one i'm looking for would freshen my memory so i'm not trying to re-learn it after I get the job. (Assuming I get the job)

I hope you got the job.  I would think there has got to be a lot of online newsletters, blogs, etc. that could help you keep up.

I follow several different industries and they all have a ton of information online.
