      0.  Laptop or desktop computer?  What hardware and/or software changes, if any, were made just before the problem started?

      1.  Disable auto restart.  From the Windows Advanced Options menu accessed via <F8> during system startup, you should select the "Disable automatic restart on system failure" option in order to stop on the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) display.

      2.  BSOD.  What does it say?
           a.  Does it contain an error string; e.g. "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED"?
           b.  Does it name a software module such as "aec.sys", "pci.sys", "usbhub.sys", or "usbccgp.sys"?

      3.  Windows Advanced Options Menu.  Use <F8> key during system startup to access the menu.  Can you boot the operating system using one or more of the following options:
           a.  Last known good configuration
           b.  Safe Mode
