Please don't laugh. I always work with computers, but the technical names for everything I suck at. I am having problems with a laptop that is becoming disconfigured. (Black, blue, and other colors in lines across the screen). Where so I direct this kind of question?

No need to be embarrassed about asking that question. Some situations, like yours, are not always a clearcut hardware or software issue.  Forum moderators can move topics from one section to another if they deem it appropriate. 

I suggest posting your question in Hardware.
