        Nope. That's always an option. But as you say, don't pull the plug until the system is indeed OFF. One other option - use a power strip (as I do on all systems).

          I have a power strip/serge protector, but it controls stuff I can't turn off.

          You could always get another power strip. Doesn't have to be an expensive one.
