power off

when i turn off my lap top the meda light and volume light stay on. this runs down my battery.

Control Panel - Power Options - Choose what the power buttons do (set the power button to shut down).

That's not what the op asked. The op asked (well not really asked, but stated) how to turn off the "media light" and the volume light. The power button options can make the computer shut down, not, or ask what to do.

Except for the fact that if the lights are on the power button is not turning the machine off, but rather is probably set to make it sleep.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.
