IE doesnt ask to save password

Hello and thank you for looking at my thread.

I have access to a website builder that works (I'm told) better? in IE, rather than firefox. ( I dont use IE all that often, if at all)

So the first time I entered the site IE asked me to save the password, and I clicked NO. (because I wasnt sure the password was correct.)

(Firefox at least tries your password and then asks if you want it saved once the browser either enters your site or comes back with "invalid username or password", but you get to see if the browser goes to the site before you have to choose, IE wont move unless you click on yes or no.)

Now every time I use IE, I dont get any prompting to save a password for anything.
Have I clicked on something that has turned it off permanently?

Ive read a few answers of other people and BC_programmers recommendations to fix it, but I have the settings correct as far as I can see.
Together with microsoft support site here for a result to fix things ( options 2-3 are a bit above my tiny brain Im afraid.)
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might fix this please?

I think I'd go ahead and use Firefox for this.  Of course, once a web page is published, you can still test it in IE.

Allan, I have all these settings already checked.

I have unchecked them, saved the setting and closed the browser window, gone somewhere else (on the net) and closed the browser again, then opened my website entrance window but still no password save option.

Can I manually enter a password somewhere? Say in "Tools + Options + Security"?

What if I delete the browser history of IE? Then go into my site address again? (that just adds a new question, "Does doing that also affect the F/Fox history?") 
IE should see it as the first time it has been presented and ask if I want the password remembered, wouldnt it?

Soybean, I use F/Fox but the options to add and change features dont work in it at all. I might be better off to download "Chrome or Opera" and see if it works any better.

You may have registry setting incorrect, or missing.

Thanks Broni for your post, unfortunately when I click the link I get "Problem loading page. Connection reset."

Maybe its a timing thing I'll try it again in a couple of minutes.

Yeah, it doesn't work for me either, now.
Here you go...

Go Start>Run, type in:
regedit
Click OK.

Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
In right pane find:
FormSuggest PW Ask
Make sure, its value is set to "Yes".

FormSuggest Passwords
It should be set to "Yes" as well.

Since you have already told IE not to save that password for the website it shouldn't come up again.

You will need to clear that site, try...

Start typing the name of the site into the URL.
When the name appears in the drop down list move the selection to the name with the arrow keys to highlight it.
Press the Delete key.

or

Go to "Tools" > "internet options" find Browsing history and click "Delete" there you will
find several options. Delete the cookies and the passwords.

or

Disable (uncheck) the Autocomplete option(s) > Close IE > Reboot > Re-enable
Autocomplete option(s).

Should reset it. The first one should do it, but gave some other options just in case.

Seems to me that his post was relevant.  He's addressing the issue of IE not asking whether to save a password.  Isn't that the key issue here?

No. The OP says IE will not save passwords on ANY site, not just one.

Right, and Azzaboi's procedure would affect/reset IE's behavior with all websites, not just one.

Only previously visited websites. It certainly can't hurt - but I don't believe it will help either. Let's wait and see if it does though.

This one wouldn't affect any of the others and doesn't hurt to try. The other two where just backup options.

Will however loses previous saved passwords. You are right there, but he did ask about it:

Note under Autocomplete, ensure they are checked. If it's bugged, try reset it:

Disable (uncheck) the Autocomplete option(s) > Close IE > Reboot > Re-enable
Autocomplete option(s).

Like you said, it certainly can't hurt. Just covering some of the other areas which haven't been meationed previously.
