Two towers hooked to one monitor
    « on: March 29, 2010, 02:34:22 PM »
I have an internet linux computer and a windows xp tower. I have them both hooked up to the same monitor. No switches or anything it's straight into the monitor. My question is; is my non-internet computer still secure? Or, is there a way for somebody to hack into it?

Hmm, so what determines which computer's output is displayed on the monitor?   ???

      VGA and HDMI?

I don't know if that's how the OP is doing it, but that's a good idea.  Do the switching with the monitor inputs.  I've used the external switches before, and they are kind of a nuisance.  Better than two monitors, but still kind of a nuisance.

Does the monitor have a switch for changing from one input to the other?  If not, then how is the switching accomplished?

On my main TV, which I just use as a TV, It's got a VGA input, two HDMI inputs, an AV input, a S-video input and a RF input and you switch between them with the remote.

That way I can have a DVD player, a PlayStation and a VCR (long story) all hooked up at the same time and easily switch between them.

It's a monitor with two vga hookups. There are buttons on the front of the monitor that can change from display 1 and display 2. Plain and simple. Kind of convenient really. I'm wondering of the non-internet can be accessed by the net through the monitor or if it's still secure.
        Thank you.

Awesome. I figured but I work with a very secure network and you never know. (I really like my job and would like to keep it)  :)
