i was reinstalling  after  a bear share virus. i made a backup. on exteral drive.
then i proceeded to go to reinstall phase. it was about one second after i got to partion notice to begin format of drive when power cut off on laptop.hp pavilion. it shut cold.
now i cant reboot or reinstall or start .i do ot have a cd rom eithe because it has been out. i did try to clean lense incase it was an issue to make it not work. i actually then got a differet page that had said somethig to do with diskit or something . but  wont go back to that page again.
i need to get my laptop up. what can i do. been to geek squad. said that i might have to buy new dvd rom.?

Unfortunately with both a laptop and Norton Ghost you are going to need a working optical drive to repair this.

One thing you can try though since you are restoring an image would be to grab one of these:

You can then hook the drive up to a working Desktop and try it from there...
No guarantees though...i haven't used Ghost for years.
