Cannot access most websites including SAS

Hello,

I've read the topic by EvilFantasy  but I could not complete all the steps because i cannot open the website for SAS free edition

Most of the websites such as let say "youtube.com", wikipedia, bbcnews.com, facebook, my bank (of america) and SUperAntiSpyware cannot be opened. That is, when I try to open them, the browser loads forever. I waited for it to give me denial such as the website cannot be open - but it never does, its just keeps loading and loading. Some pages like google, yahoo, ccleaner, and computerhope.com I can open w/o problem.

Am I doomed? I don't have that much data on my computer so I would not mind formatting it, or whatever it takes to make this sucker work again.
Any help appreciated.

I just realized that I forgot to include some valuable information

I am using Windows XP.
I do not get an error in my browser (regardless whether it is IE or Mozilla Ver 3.5. - it is endlessly loading.
My PC is HP, 2.40GZ, 1GB RAM, 40GB HD, I have AVG and ccleaner available.
The issue started on Friday afternoon Atlantic Time after I came from work.
I did not have i-net connection b/n Thursday and Friday - I don't know if that may somehow affected the browser.
