New computer to existing network
« on: April 03, 2010, 06:12:54 PM »
Hi,

My grandmother recently bought a computer from a neighbor. Our current desktop has had problems but our router is connected to the modem, which is connected to the tower.

My question is, how would i hook up a new computer to an existing wireless network? I want other suggestions before i possibly ruin things with the internet, since i'm a college student and the web is my life right now lol.

To connect it to wireless and computer does not have wireless adapter then you can buy WiFi dongle for like 20€ to USB. Installation is pretty easy, just connect and follow steps.
If it has already adapter then activate it and depends how router is setup (IP address assignment, MAC address filtering, WEP/WPA/WPA2 encryption, ...) you should follow it.
