     Specs: http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529668210.php

I read from a source that the psu needs 8 pins.

Any standard ATX PSU will work....
Power consumption i'd go around 600W or better if you plan on an upgrade down the road...

I would recommend getting one from a big brand such as OCZ, Akasa, Antec, FSP, and more.  Stay away from the ones in boxes that simply say 600w PSU on them.

Name brand ones are likely to last longer, have better connectivity and have quieter fans.

Ok thanks.  Now would I have to install it within the pc itself? I've heard of ones that you keep on the exterior.

Enermax 525 Pro82+ should be enough, if planning upgrade (add second graphic card) go for 625 version of this one.

Every non-economical build I've done contained a PSU from PC Power & Cooling which is part of OZC.  I've owned two of those rigs for over 6 years and have not had any power related failure from either of them.  They are quiet and provide more than adequate stable power.  The models I purchased were rather heavy, big heatsinks, which can be used as an indicator of quality aside from actual performance.
