    command prompt

    i tried to open the command prompt with ipconfig. it opened and then closed immediately. how do i get it to stay open?

    Start - Run - CMD - press ENTER

    My preference is to add command prompt to the start menu.

    Start > all programs > accessories > command prompt, then right click on command prompt and click on pin to start menu.

    But just searching for CMD is simple enough.. easier on Vista

      i was able to get into cmd and then into ipconfig. if i typed just ipconfig in the run window it would just flash on the screen and that would be it??? :) any way i got to where i wanted to be . thanks for your help. That's a great cartoon, That's how i feel sometimes.

      One would ask 'why are you using ipconfig using cmd'?  What are you trying to do?
