If you either upgraded your existing install or replaced it, then the only way to "revert" is to format and install Vista (this will completely erase everything on your hd). If you installed W7 as a dual boot option (which I'm guessing is not the case) you can easily uninstall it.

What sort of recovery discs? If you imaged the hd with an imaging program then that's just fine.

In other words, it's not booting from the DVD disc, right?  You probably need to access your BIOS settings and set CD as the first/initial boot device.

hi soybean,i tried that but it still boots to w7...when i got the pc it was preinstalled with vista,i had no problems then if i wanted to take it back to factory settings, but since i upgraded to w7 i cant do that...i think w7 is in a partition in the c drive...im not sure if by loading w7 over vista that ive lost vista...i burnt 2 dvd backup discs when i bought the pc..thanks john.

I'm not convinced you know how to access your BIOS settings.  To remove my doubt, please state exactly how you do that for your model computer.

F2 key may be correct for your computer; for some computers, it's another key.  So, you got into the CMOS Setup Utility, where you see the BIOS settings.  Right?  And, what did you do there?

soybean's advice is correct. You need to watch the screen when it boots and it will say: press ??? to enter bios (or setup). Whatever that key is, that's what you press. Then set the cd / dvd drive as the first boot device in the boot order.

You put in the disk before you exit the BIOS.
