download problems

having problem trying to download any new anti-virus software. instead of the pages flying from one folder to another i just get a big long page of words but they aren't in any language just different shapes.

any one any ideas?????

Ian, is the program installing or no? Depending on the software, this may be normal...

    Start in safe mode & turn off system restore if applicable, then do your virus stuff.

    Its highly likely that you may already have an infection which is stopping the antivirus from connecting or updating as it should some of the virus/worm/trojans can stop any connection to almost all antuvirus web sites.
    Is it possible for you to get a set of antivirus floppies from Symantec or Sophos from another computer and then run the floppy set on your own computer.
