I cannot get logged on with either admin or any user acct.  it tries to load personal settings then immediatly goes to saving settings and back to ctr-alt-del.  it does this in safe mode also.

sounds like you need to do a system restore. Now on my PC if you tap F11 during the booting of the pc you can get into System Restore.

If you do this resore the PC back to a few weeks ago when evrything was ok. Then when you get into Windows download a Antivirus and Scan, Try avast or some other ones that people have recomended in the fourm.

Hope this helps

"System Restore" is not a feature of Win2k, only WinME and WinXP.

You don't seem to have many options.

You could hit F8 on bootup before Windows starts to load & choose 'last good configuration'.
You may loose some drivers but your accounting stuff should be OK.

You could boot with the w2k disk with the cdrom set to first boot in bios and look for a 'repair' option.
I haven't tried this but someone else may be able to tell you what the options are.

I guess you could hook the drive to another computer and download your accounting stuff?
This sounds like a lot of work to me.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Bugaruso:

Or, if not hardware, then what else may have changed just prior to this behavior?

For example, did anyone install a new program or change any of the Windows settings?

Knowing this will help us find the cause and suggest a cure.
