Floppy Disk Drive

Does anyone know why in Windows 7 my computer checks the floppy disk drive every 5 or so minutes? Is it just something Microsoft wrote in to keep the contents of the drive updated automatically?

It has nothing to do with Windows. It's a program you are running.

Put a floppy in for 5 seconds and eject it...the seek will stop.
