Firefox crashing

Recently Fiefox has been crashing 3, 4, 5 times a day. Anyone else had this problem??? Any remedy??

Just read 'firefox kepps cpu at 100%' and that has given me some ideas. Going to disable add-ons and enable one by one to try and find my 'problem child'!!

ver 3.6.3.

I've disabled Java console 6.0.17 , because i have 6.0.19 enabled and it has not crashed since. (fingers crossed)

Any more info in understanding the problem would be appreciated though!

I recently deleted 4 Java Consoles from Firefox; I just left the most recent ones.  No problems noticed as a result of this.  I could be wrong but I'm inclined to think multiple versions of Java Console in Firefox are an abnormal condition and only the most recent one is needed.

It's crashed twice since.

I've disabled everything except, Adblock Plus, Smoothwheel, Web of Trust and Stumble upon.

Has anyone had any trouble with these??



Also, starting to consider google chrome.

Why not just disable all of them and see what happens? Either that or run Firefox in safe mode.

Like Allen said, try FF in safe mode and see what happens.

I've generally been using FF latest betas (3.6.4 now) for a while now, and at most it will crash once a month, which is not unexpected for beta versions.

I have got to think you have something else going on.

Well since i disabled everything (apart from the stuff mentioned above) it hasn't crashed once!!!

Okay. Now you can start adding back the extensions one at a time until the problem recurs so you can identify the problem add-on if you like.

Just for what it's worth and to answer reddevilgg's question" Anyone else had this problem???". I very recently changed browser from IE 6 to the most recent Firefox version on 2 computers (same time). I did not specify what addons to permit. So presume i got defaults, whatever they are on both. One computer ( a Sony Vaio -XP pro) =no problems since install. Other a Compaq Presario also XP pro = no problems for about 1 day then most times would never connect to a web site. Even hot-mail. Read many online articles (obviously using the Sony) that indicated issues of this nature arising from addons. Haven't done so yet (removed) but also noted many line entries of Java. Also many re real-player and as well what seem to be many Microsoft addons. Curious as to why there would be addons relating to Microsoft software? Leaning toward dumping Firefox on the Compaq and trying Opera (which i have on a Dell XPS) and never have had any issues. This has the semblance of a dejavu moment as i seem to have been here before. truenorth

That all sounds strange.  I have Firefox on my Compaq Presario notebook PC and do not have those issues.  Well, I had multiple instances of Java Console but I detected no problems arising from that.  Anyway, I deleted all of them except the most recent version. The only Microsoft extension in my Firefox is Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.2.1.  The only other extensions, which were installed by me, are ColorfulTabs and New Tab Homepage.

An update on my earlier post.Noting the issue probably being "addons" i deleted a bunch of them (with the notion that i would add them back in one at a time until the problem arose). However Firefox seems to be working fine now. So until i determine that i cannot do something i am going to leave them all disabled. truenorth
