What is the problem you're having with CCleaner?

Ok. Let's do it the old-fashined way.Go to your C: drive and you should see a folder marked "ComboFix". Delete it and all of it's contents.

To turn off Windows XP System Restore:

NOTE: These instructions assume that you are using the default Windows XP Start Menu and have not changed to the Classic Start menu. To re-enable the default menu, right-click Start, click Properties, click Start menu (not Classic) and then click OK.

    1. Click Start.
    2. Right-click the My Computer icon, and then click Properties.
    3. Click the System Restore tab.
    4. Check "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives"
    5. Click Apply.
    6.  When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this.
    7. Click OK.
    8. Restart the computer and follow the instructions in the next section to turn on System Restore.

To turn on Windows XP System Restore:

    1. Click Start.
    2. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
    3. Click the System Restore tab.
    4. Uncheck "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives."
    5. Click Apply, and then click OK.

When you run OTC, it should remove all the programs we used to clean the computer. Don't forget to empty your recycling bin.

Oh nvm I know what to do with CCleaner now but is it recommended that I keep it and not delete it? And I can't seem to find the ComboFix folder, could it have been deleted when I run the OTC? Also, when should I use Window XP system restore and should I back up regularly?

And is Avira a good antivirus/spyware protection?

It's possible that OTC took care of it. System Restore should only be used when you want to revert back to an earlier time/date. It will not eliminate malware. In fact, malware likes to hide in System Restore and your computer gets re-infected when you use it. That's why we set a new Restore date once the computer has been cleaned. You can set new restore dates anytime you feel like. I'm not going to start a debate about which AV program is the best because everyone has different views about this. I used to use AVG and Avast before switching the MicroSoft Security Essentials. The important thing to have a good AV updated regularly along with some other malware/spyware programs.

Thanks for posting Dave.  It looks like alot of people are having the same issue.  Here are my logs:

      exeHelper by Raktor
      Build 20100414
      Run at 09:45:09 on 05/29/10
      Now searching...
      Checking for numerical processes...
      Checking for sysguard processes...
      Checking for bad processes...
      Checking for bad files...
      Checking for bad registry entries...
      Resetting filetype association for .exe
      Resetting filetype association for .com
      Resetting userinit and shell values...
      Resetting policies...
      --Finished--

I'm not sure if this is correct but it is the only thing that came up after running the exeHelper.

      Correct info???

DBRIGGS2, please start your own thread stating your problem. It's not wise to try to get help in another's thread.
