computer won't start, help!
« on: May 19, 2010, 06:03:16 AM »
Hi,
About a month ago now I picked up a virus similar to ones i've picked up before (think this one was called adamalwaredoctor2010, or something like that) but this time it has somehow made it so that I can't load windows, which of course means that I can't turn my computer on.
I can only get as far Dell startup bit and then it just goes black and that's it. I can get into setup and boot menu and everything, but nothing on any of that seems to help me. I've tried booting through safe mode and last known good configuration and whatever else I can click, but nothing has worked.
I think the virus might have removed some drivers, but I don't know enough about computers to know what that means, so if anyone has any ideas of anything else I can try, I would be eternally grateful!

xo

2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
3. If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to ask.
4. Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans while I am helping you.
5. It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
6. Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
7. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

Please follow all the instructions carefully.
