    New to F@H
    « on: June 09, 2010, 12:48:54 PM »
I've setup the Client(using the older version for Win 2K) and entered my username, team name and such.

It's began to run and on the display it says: "Waiting for Core:"
    "Step 1.....19"

Probably just nervous, but is it just trying to allocate CPU time(I set it to about 10% CPU Usage)?
If you dont know DOS, you dont know Windows...

Thats why Bill Gates created the Windows NT Family.

I read the F@H Log and it had errors connecting to the Server, I don't believe the server is down, Perhaps Avast is blocking it.

It would explain the multiple "Wait for core" steps on the display.

You need to set CPU to 100% for it to work properly (probably not your issue). The only time you need to set it lower is if you are running other CPU intensive programs. 10% is just crazy.

No, the problem is definitely with my connection:
I read the F@H Log and it had errors connecting to the Server, I don't believe the server is down, Perhaps Avast is blocking it.

It would explain the multiple "Wait for core" steps on the display.

I'm running version 5 of the client(It's running on Win 2K).

EDIT:Apparently the older versions are just picking up the pieces of WU's from the machines with the new version(My machine has been running F@H for a couple of hours now, and still nothing.)

It was just a firewall issue for me...

Hmmm...your running Version 6 of the client(If its Win 2003).

I've got Version 5, and Avast hasn't notified me that it was blocking F@H

It was windows firewall that was blocking it.

I believe you are correct. Hopefully they will create more projects for the version 5 users.
