Can't install, cannot access disk

Hi,

When I'm trying to install XP, I get to the point where it asks me where to install, and instead of a list of partitions, I get a messege,

"8057 mb disk 0 at id0 on bus 0 on atapi (setup cannot access this disk.)"

It's a 320 GB Seagate SATA drive, brand new. This computer has no floppy drive, and there are none that work here. I tried burning the Intel SATA drivers to a custom install CD with nLite, but that produced the same results. It's an Asus motherboard with an Intel chipset, not sure of any more details.

Any help would be much apreceated.

If you slipstreamed those drivers correctly: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows/resolving-setup-did-not-find-any-hard-disk-drives-during-windows-xp-installation/, I suspect either bad drive, straight from the box (it happens), or some other computer issue (mobo?).
Assuming, all cables, jumpers, etc. are correct.

Somewhere I read that when doing an install on SATA, you must have just one HDD in the system. After Windows is up and running, you can add the second drive.

Check your bios, make sure your sata controller is set to ATA, not AHCI. Otherwise the computer wont see the drive when trying to install XP in some cases.
