GMAIL Issue
« on: June 11, 2011, 05:57:23 AM »

I checked my GMAIL this past evening on my windows dell desktop and all of my stored email is gone. Folders are still there but no email. I quickly scanned my system and reset password using my IPAD. Is this likely a GMail issue or someone got bored in hack land. The only thing I did recently on my Pc different was a defrag. Any ideas, thanks for any input.

Do you always access your gmail via web browser or do you use an email client such as Outlook Express, Outlook, Windows Live Mail. etc. for it?

If you do not use any email client for your gmail account, as you've indicated, and you do not use Google's Gmail offline tool, then your email always resides out on Google's mail server and whatever maintenance you do on your computer has nothing whatsoever to do with your email.

Do you have any indication that someone might have gotten your previous password and signed-in to your gmail account?  Otherwise, I have no idea what is the cause of your dilemma.

Thanks for taking the time to post back, much appreciated. Maybe it was just a glitch, with a much harder password now we'll just move forward and chalk it up as a tech issue. Thanks again.

Gmail had a security issue a few days ago and it seemed to cause a few problems.  I use Comcast as my primary email account but have gmail as a back up.  After the security problem I couldn't log in to gmail for a few days but it seems back to normal now.
