Unable to delete file and folders

I am using windows vista and created or rather converted some video from flv format to a dvd mpg format using Any Video Converter. I was logged in with an administrator account but now I am unable to delete the folder that the application created. I've tried logging through the administrator account and same problem occurs.

I've tried taking ownership of the folder and files and get the access denied statement. I have also tried deleting through dos the directory and folder and files created by Any Video Converter same access denied message.

When I check the user account rights the file/folder full control with special permissions is checked.
What am I doing wrong or what else is there for me to do in order to delete these files.

Download, and install Unlocker: http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/
Restart computer.
It'll install under right click menu.

Open Windows Explorer.
Navigate to offending folder/file.

Right click on a folder/file. Click Unlocker
Select Delete from drop-down menu:



Click OK.
A folder/file will refuse to be deleted, but Unlocker will give you an option to delete on reboot:



Click Yes.
Restart computer.

another thing, you can also try booting to safe mode and try deleting there.

Thanks for all the assistance but it seems that re-booting was the issue, once I re-booted I was able to delete with no problems, strange if you ask me.

probably the files were in use by the 'parent' program or process. That's usually what I see as when something is safe to delete but is locked and therefore undeletable as a result.
