If I make two Partitions on a hard drive both partitions will be called two primary partitions right??

But if I take the second primary partition and make it into one more partition that partition will be called the Extanded partition am I right?

If you're hard drive is set up for "Basic", not "dynamic", the standard is that you can have up to 4 primary partitions, or 3 primary partitions w/ one extended partition, divided into as many "logical drives" as you want..

edit: with respect to the "logical drives", as many as you want assuming drive letters are available for them..

This is what I ment if I have 4. partitions on my drive they will all be 4 Primary partitions.

But I can only way I have an extened partition is to just have 3. primary partitions and then make the 3. partition Divid again. This will be the extended part.
