    Still need help
    « on: August 16, 2010, 05:12:22 PM »
So I am still trying to fix my laptop using the recovery disc I downloaded from Neosmart using Imgburn. I am still using an HP dv4 with Windows vista. I downloaded the 64 bit version.

I didn't really go in depth about when it happened but I was downloading the free version of Microsoft C++ when my laptop went down. After I turn on the laptop it goes to the black screen telling me how to fix my laptop.

    File: \Boot\BCD
    Status:0xc000000f
Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot config data.

After that it says to press enter to continue but i cannot do that. I may have heard something about using a usb keyboard in order to do this?

    Thanks

Thanks for the fast reply. Unfortunately, after I config the BIOS to boot from the DVD it went to the screen where it asks you to press any button to continue. After doing so, it went back to the black screen telling me to use a recovery disc.

Then you are not booting to the disc. Either it was burned incorrectly or it is not bootable (I'm guessing the former).

I was starting to think that i didn't burn it right. I'll try it again.

        Thanks  :)

Sorry, but I got ahead of myself. I did manage to fix the problem using the recovery disc but now when I start up my laptop it will proceed to the Microsoft loading screen as usual but after that it will go to the start-up selection page. If I choose to start-up normally, it will go to the black screen and eventually turn off after a minute or so. If I choose to go through Safe Mode then it will go to the blue error page stating that it is dumping the physical memory.

Boot to the very same CD and try to run "Startup repair".

I tried that but it said it could not detect a problem.

Repair installation can be run only from within Windows and OP has no access :)
Vista DVD full version needed as well.
