Wasn't taken that way at all...
It may depend on your setup vs. hers...probably software related would be my guess.
Before my current OS on this machine I was using Crunchbang, which is very lightweight and minimalistic. The same behavior occurred there.
I'll report if ever I find out the cause  8)

If you had the same behaviour on another OS then it's definitely a hardware/power saving setting that's being overlooked...

Aha, yes... Some setting in the BIOS perhaps.
I'll see next time I reboot that I look in there too.
