    Photoshop question
    « on: October 08, 2010, 12:41:44 PM »
Hi, I am a self-taught Photoshop user and can usually figure out problems if I keep at it long enough. There is one problem I cannot figure out however, and would be most appreciative if someone could help me...I am working on a project where I want to place many images saved on my computer onto one 8.5x11 page in Photoshop. The problem is, that even though the image size % is the same on both the image and the page, the images are all reduced in size once copied and pasted onto the new page. I would like the image to remain at the desired size when pasted in the new page. Can anyone instruct me on this subject please? Thank you for your time...

I only know that if your image is this 8.5 x 11 to begin with, you only have to 'open' the image 'select' the image and 'copy' it.    Then start a 'new' image and the new image will automatically be the same size as your 'copy'.  just paste the copy into the new image and the size will not be reduced any.   Hope this helps? ;D

I thought so too, it makes sense, but no matter how I copy and paste, the image is reduced on the new page. I do not understand why such a simple step is behaving in this strange way. It must be a setting or something that I am not aware of. Thank you for your reply, I am still open to more ideas about what could be causing the reduced image. Pertcentages are the same.

You have to consider the size of your original image in terms of resolution, not necessarily what you see on the screen.

If you create an letter size (8.5"x11") canvas and a resolution of 300 pixels/inch it will come out 2550x3300 pixels.

If you copy an image that is say 500x500 pixels in its original form, when you paste it into your file, it's actually going to look very small, like it shrunk. In fact, it hasn't shrunk, the canvas is just much larger than the original.

You will have to stretch your image across this new, larger canvas. If it becomes too blurred when you do so, the original's resolution is too low and you will probably need to find another of higher resolution.

Sometimes quirks like this do happen.   Either close down and rebbot..or reinstall Photoshop.  Sometimes works.   ;D    ;D

It's not a quirk, it's just the way things work when you're editing images and copying and pasting between files. Rebooting and reinstalling Photoshop won't do anything except waste her time and unnecessarily confuse her.

Just to help avoid having the OP waste her time, I would like to point out that quaxo is absolutely correct.  You can't always judge the canvas with just your eyes.  Depending on resolution and perhaps even the zoom, pasting a picture may not give the result you expect because the image is pasted proportionally in relation to the canvas.
