« on: December 09, 2010, 10:32:17 AM »
Greetings:

I add a new XP Pro machine to my existing workgroup. When I try to access this computer from others, I receive the following error message. Can anyone help?

\\computer is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the adminstrator of this server to find out if you use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

Turn off the comp.
Unplug the ethernet.
Unplug the comp.
Wait 3 minutes.
Plug everything back in and boot up.

    Hi robinszd,

Try to avoid 'simple files sharing' in the system (My computer, tools, folders options, view, scroll down to the end, and uncheck it... you may/may not need to restart)

Also you need to check any firewall is blocking connections!
