    Virus help
    « on: January 28, 2011, 08:57:07 PM »
    Hello,
Last Friday (1/21) I downloaded a file somewhat accidentally. And now when I start my computer it shuts down within a few minutes. I have been able to update Microsoft Security Essentials (which is the only protection program I am running) but have not been able to get a scan in. Also I tried to restore back to a time prior to the infection but my computer did not list any. So I have been told that the virus could be in my system restore. However this does me very little good as I do not know my way around a computer beyond the basics. Please let me know if there is anything I might be able to do.

    Thanks much,

    Joshn7

I am unable to do much of this as I only have from 0 - 5 mins at best after a reboot. I did update My anti virus and turn on my firewall but it did not detect anything.
