    My computer won't let me safely remove my USB Keys

    this is completely bizarre. i have my USB keys plugged into my computer, and when i try to disconnect them it wont let me because "another program is using it" this is not true however, no programs are using it. can someone tell me why this is happening?

    computer details:
    Windows XP
    Version 2002
    Service Pack 3
    Intel
    3.19GHz
    1.98 GB RAM

    Maybe some malware in disguised trying to access your USB keys or vice versa.

      Does it happen all the time now? Could Windows be indexing the drive?

      Are you sure no programs are using it??

      For instance, if you are saving, lets say, a excel doc and you save it to the USB stick. When you go to 'Safely Remove' it will still be in use. You have to close the excel doc before removing.
