Almost no program can start on Windows7 (only succeeded to run notepad and explorer but no IE, chrome, etc.)

Tried numerous registry fixes (assumed wrong extension files associations) - didn't help.

    Any idea?

You should start backing-up your files first and try going to safemode if you can workaround this problem. Free Registry Repairs on certain links or sites are not recommended to any type of computer software issue.

What is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?

it's a kids' machine so theoretically they might installed something but no hardware or complex stuff. working in the normal mode reveals instability since after a while a blue screen comes - no symptoms, just happens.

      Download BlueScreenView:
      http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe to run the program.
when scanning is done, go to EDIT - Select All
Go to FILE - SAVE Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all of the content, and paste it into your next reply
