registery pop up on start up

every time i start up, i get the pop up on the desk top telling me there is something in my register files it cannot open, the only way i can describe this is looks like a chineese word followed by a circle, Allan

What is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?

Download Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel and uncheck anything you don't recognize - then reboot. What happens?
