Computer won't recognize XP disc
« on: April 08, 2011, 02:13:49 AM »
Well it does and it doesn't. But it won't go into setup. Was working on parent's computer trying to reformat and start fresh. Done it many times. They had System Commander software installed which I'm not familiar with. It kept popping up and wouldn't allow me to go into bios. So I used a WD floppy and wiped drive.

Checked cd to start first, popped in cd and although computer said bootable cd in drive, it game me Missing Operating System error. Well thats a new one, never saw that before. No matter what I did I cannot seem to get the thing to see XP cd and go into setup. There are two drives present, one a WD ATA and the other a Maxtor Sata. The Maxtor is the larger and the one I'd like to use as primary. I have the WD set as slave.

Any ideas?

Either you are not booting to the cd or the cd is not a bootable, original, retail OS cd.
