Flatiron LG L1718S

I just received an LG Flatiron L1718S from a friend but there was no manual with it.   I've made the screen 1152X864 pixels and I'm alright with that.

My problem is that the font looks strange and not very clear.   I can't figure out if there is a way to fix that.   Also...I feel the pictures are too bright and when I press the brightness button on the right side...I don't know what to do after that.  I don't see any other buttons to use to adjust the brightness.

If anyone knows the answer to this, I'd appreciate your help.  Thanks.

LCD monitors should be left at their native screen resolution, which in case of your monitor is 1280 x 1024.

After you press the brightness button, there are up and down buttons just above it which can be used to adjust it.
