Specs for playing videos

Hi im looking for a computer to play videos on.  What are the minimum specs to play videos comfortably

Today's computer systems are all capable of playing videos. I cannot say what the minimum specs are (maybe another user may know) but you shouldn't have to worry about that. Its really depends on your spending budget, and how you plan to use your computer.

You need to be a little more specific when you say you want a computer to play videos on.  As hedgehog said almost all computers for years now can play DVDs.  If you want to watch online videos, your ISPs speed will be the main limiting factor.

I'm looking at getting a secoundhand laptop and playing videos offline on it.

Laptops made even years ago can play good quality video. Most of the time the issue is the software used. Back when Microsoft released Windows 95 it came with a sample video clip that was good quality at that time. Since then, both hardware and software have improved.

Test the laptop's video output or display resolution before purchasing one and make sure it has a DVD player/writer for another mode of watching movies aside from saved avi files. Look for something that suits your visual preferences.
