computer keyboard
« on: June 23, 2011, 08:36:08 PM »
When booting up my computer each day, I need to hold down a key until it "clicks" about 15 times, then it "beeps" before the keyboard will let me start typing anything. Have to do this every time the computer is turned back on. WOuld like to know if there is a way to undo this
Thanks

Is it a USB keyboard?

Or is it the "old-time" PS/2 keyboard?

Have you tried unplugging and re-plugging in the keyboard?  If it is the old-style PS/2, do not unplug or plug it in when the computer is on.  Make sure the power is off.

USB is more forgiving -- you can unplug/plug in USB while the power is on, though sometimes, USB keyboards get strange, and best to unplug/plug in while power is off, then restart.

It would be helpful if some more information was given. The type of computer, model and age. And any information about the keyboard. Is there a switch on the bottom of the keyboard?
